What a difference!  In Turin, it was extremely hot and humid all the time, but here in Scotland, it&#8217;s freezing cold and crisp.<\/p>\n<p>The conference was very good &ndash; I heard about several interesting developments and met plenty of people.  For instance, Gyldendal had sent their entire dictionary department &ndash; it was quite nice speaking Danish again&#8230;  There were also loads of Irish people speaking Irish &ndash; it certainly didn&#8217;t appear to be a small or endangered language at all. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Thursday night a small group of us went to the restaurant where Miriam&#8217;s friend Maria is working.  She got a shock when she saw me, but she recovered, and we had great food and a wonderful grappa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got back from Turin last night.
